Frequently asked questions
Questions Parents Ask.
Straight answers about how we teach, what it costs, and how we support your child.
01
How we teach
My child goes to tuition but still struggles. Why?
Most tuition is passive: the teacher explains and the student copies. In a review of 225 studies, students in lecture-style classes were 1.5 times more likely to fail than students who actively worked through problems. Our lessons keep asking your child to predict, answer and apply.

Why does my child forget what they studied so quickly?
Re-reading feels productive but fades fast. Pulling an idea out of memory is what makes it stick: in one study, students who practised recall remembered about 80% a week later, against about 36% for those who re-studied. Every lesson ends with a knowledge check, and ideas come back for spaced revision.

My child knows the answers at home but blanks out in exams. Can you help?
Exams test recall, not recognition, so that is what we practise: questions after every lesson, practice sets at three levels, and past-paper questions with a timed option. Recalling under pressure becomes a habit.
In class my child is either bored or lost. Why?
People learn best in the zone between too easy and too hard, which the psychologist Lev Vygotsky called the zone of proximal development. A class pitched at the average misses both ends. In our live sessions, experts ask questions to find where your child really stands, and practice comes in three levels.

Some of your questions are hard. Shouldn't learning feel easy?
A bit of struggle helps memory, as long as help is at hand. In one study, students who practised mixed problem types scored 63% on a test a week later, against 20% for those who practised one type at a time. Hard questions come with worked examples, hints and a reason for every wrong answer.

Why so many visuals instead of just the textbook?
In 11 out of 11 experiments, students learned more from words with pictures than from words alone. We show the real thing first, then the diagram, and each scene shows only what is being explained.

Isn't this just videos? How is it different from YouTube?
Every lesson is interactive. Videos stop to ask questions, study guides include games, and every lesson ends with a knowledge check. Enrolled students also get weekly live sessions and a moderated community, and parents get progress reports.
What is the SOL Framework?
It is our own way of teaching science, built on four research-backed pillars: Structural Visualisation, Cognitive Synthesis, Strategic Retrieval and Institutional Support. See the Science of Learning page.
How are you better than other coaching classes?
We would rather show you than claim it, so here is what every student gets. Compare it with any class you are considering. Our teaching is built on some of the best-evidenced methods in learning science: a major review of 10 study techniques rated only two as “high utility”, practice testing and spaced practice, and we use both. It also draws on research published in the journals Science and PNAS. Every lesson is interactive, no lesson video runs over 12 minutes, and every video has English captions. Practice goes up to Olympiad level. Every week, subject experts run Socratic live sessions, and parents get a monthly progress report. Try it free for 5 days.

Support and progress
What happens in the live sessions?
Every week, enrolled students meet The Collective, our global faculty of subject experts. Sessions are Socratic: experts ask questions to find where each student's understanding really stands, then teach from there.
What if my child gets stuck between sessions?
Our moderated community lets students solve problems together, with subject experts on hand.
How will I know how my child is doing?
You get a progress report every month, and we contact you early if your child seems to be slipping and may need support.
Who teaches?
The Collective, our faculty of subject experts, led by Dr Susnata Karmakar, Founder and Academic Director. Meet the team.
04
Inclusive learning
My child finds it hard to concentrate in long classes. Will this suit them?
It is built for that: short microlearning modules, lesson videos of 12 minutes or less that stop to ask questions, voice-guided study guides, and no timers or marks while learning.
Do the videos have captions?
Yes. Every lesson video has English captions you can switch on or off.
Is it suitable for colour-blind students?
Yes. We use colour-blind-safe palettes, and right or wrong is never shown by colour alone.
